In 2015, the members of the Market Ready Team carried out a validation workshop of the criteria of the Model in Mexico for the adventure tourism and ecotourism sector with the participation of representatives of government institutions, non-governmental organizations and businessmen of the sector in that country.


The workshop and the implementation actions were supported by and framed in the binational cooperation activities between Mexico and Germany through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico and the German Federal Government agency, specialized in technical cooperation for the sustainable development around the world; GIZ.

The initiative to develop and apply the Model by the organizations that make up the Market Ready Team made up of La Mano del Mono [Mexico] and AMT Marketing and Small Planet Consulting [both from Canada] seeks to consolidate and detonate ecotourism and tourism in adventure in Mexico and Latin America to guarantee the environmental, social and economic benefits of the segment. The model was adapted from the successful Indigenous Tourism Canada model to the reality and context of the adventure tourism and ecotourism sector in Latin America in particular, but applicable to other regions of the world with activities and offerings in this sector.
The workshop was held on August 26, 2015 at 8:30 am in the city of Palenque, Chiapas, following the objectives and program detailed below.

Scope of the Validation Workshop of Market Ready criteria for Latin America

General objective:

Validate the Market Ready Model criteria for ecotourism and adventure tourism with institutions, tour operators and community companies linked to the development of the sector in Mexico.

Specific objectives:

Presentation of the background and successful implementation of the Model in Canada
Presentation of the Market Ready Model criteria
Presentation of the strengthening programs for the Business, Commercial, Operational and Sustainability areas within the companies
Conduction of systematized feedback processes
Definition of opportunities for the application of the Market Ready Model institutionally in Mexico and Latin America
