The history of the cooperative began in 1971, when twelve families arrived in the area we know today as Caserío La Técnica Agropecuaria, in the municipality of Las Cruces, Petén. What began as a forced settlement due to a boat accident on the Usumacinta River, was transformed into a community that would eventually fight for its development. In 1974, the community was formally organized as the Cooperativa Integral Agropecuaria Técnica Petén, with the support of the Jesuit order.

Over the years, the cooperative has managed various projects, such as the construction of schools, water wells, road improvements, the creation of a health center and the sustainable production of lemons. In addition, the cooperative has promoted community tourism, allowing visitors to discover the beauty and history of the region.

The cooperative's mission is to self-manage the integral development of its members and the community, promoting gender inclusion and encouraging good practices in food production, specialized services and environmentally friendly activities. Its vision is to become the best organization in its field, being an example of sustainable development.

In the Usumacinta Mayan Route, we offer tours to the archaeological sites of Yaxchilan and Piedras Negras, as well as experiences in the raptor trails. Come and live the adventure of your life, where history, nature and adventure meet.
