Explore Holmul, a Mayan archaeological jewel with unique friezes, lush jungle and sustainable tourism managed by Árbol Verde.

Holmul is one of the most important Maya cities, known for its impressive friezes and archaeological wealth. Discovered in the early 20th century, this city reveals much about the life and traditions of the ancient Maya. Its frieze, found in 2013, is a jewel of 8th century stucco art, representing a Maya king in a ceremonial context.

The Holmul tourism experience combines history, nature and adventure. Visitors can explore interpretive trails that lead to hidden archaeological sites, as well as natural landscapes such as La Trampa, Cibal and El Tigre viewpoints. In addition, the Petén jungle is home to an incredible diversity of birds, including toucans and eagles, offering an unparalleled birding experience with local guides and specialized equipment.

Adventurous tourists can travel the route that connects Holmul with Nakum and Yaxhá, ending in Tikal. Nakum stands out for its monumental architecture and the U Temple with panoramic views of the jungle. Yaxhá, famous for its lake and the Temple of the Red Hands, offers spectacular sunsets.

The El Tigre Bungalowslocated in the jungle, offer a sustainable lodging experience, with three bungalows equipped for relaxation in harmony with nature. Activities such as hiking, wildlife watching and yoga allow for a deep connection with the environment.

This tourism model is promoted by the Asociación Civil para el Desarrollo Árbol Verde, which since 1992 has worked on sustainable land management, integrating local communities in forest protection and economic development. Made up of 340 members, of which 40% are women, this organization manages resources responsibly under international certifications such as FSC.

Holmul is a destination where history, nature and conservation come together to offer an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Mayan world.
