A project still in development, but no less attractive, it's a healthy activity that raises local environmental awareness that we should all take part in. The site is very easy to find and easy to reach, just 200 meters from the main road, whether traveling by public transportation or directly to the site's door by private vehicle. The meeting was at 10:00 a.m., with a reservation required. The talk began at 10:30 a.m., where they discussed the project and the work being done. Afterward, they invited you to a tour of the museum, where they illustrated the different endemic species and finally provided information about the turtles. At the end of the tour, they invited you to come out and participate in the turtle release, explaining the methodology and care requirements. They gave each visitor a baby turtle, and then headed to the beach to release them. The staff was always very friendly and professional, not bad for a project still under construction and staffed by people from the community. If you have the opportunity and are lucky enough to coincide with the release season, this is an activity you'll definitely want to do.

A major project to rescue and conserve sea turtles in Mazatán, Chiapas. A great effort by the Emiliano Zapata community, located within La Encrucijada Natural Park.

For the past year or so, I've been very pleased with how things have progressed. My family and I have gone to release turtles, and we've really enjoyed the organization and the good use they've made of social media to continue building the place.
