About Tres Lagunas Crocodile Sanctuary
Tres Lagunas Crocodile Sanctuary is located in the community of Lacanja Chansayab, Municipality of Ocosingo Chiapas. The site has 3 lagoons surrounded by high evergreen forest vegetation, where there is a great diversity of emblematic species of great importance for the ecosystems such as the jaguar, tapir, howler monkeys, toucan, etc.
The organization is managed by Mayan Lacandon families with the purpose of preserving the cultural heritage of their ancestors and through their cosmovision they carry out conservation programs such as wildlife monitoring, surveillance tours, reforestation, environmental education talks, etc., that contribute to the protection of the biodiversity of the Lacandon jungle, as well as developing nature tourism experiences that offer travelers a different way of feeling and living nature through the traditions and customs of the Mayan Lacandons.
The project offers lodging services in cabins, food, wifi, hiking, exhibition of wildlife monitoring images, mythology nights, flora and fauna observation, canoeing, etc.
